Why Mapleton drivers choose Car Kings for paint protection film

Mapleton drivers spend real time on the interstate, where rock chips happen fastest. Front-end protection pays for itself here.

Car Kings is a quick drive west on I-94, so you get a proper paint protection film install without a long haul. Every job is quoted to your exact vehicle — you’ll get a fast, free quote before any work begins.

What Mapleton drivers get

  • Rock chip protection on the panels that take the hits, which is the front bumper, the hood, the mirrors and the leading edge of each fender
  • Self-healing urethane, so light scratches and swirls in the film relax back out when it's warmed by sun or a heat gun
  • Optically clear, so your paint color and gloss come through unchanged instead of sitting under a visible sheen
  • A barrier against brine and de-icing chemicals that would otherwise sit directly against bare clear coat all winter
  • Computer-cut patterns for your exact year, make and model, edge-wrapped so there are no visible film lines and nothing to lift
  • Gloss or satin film options, if you want the protection to change the look of the vehicle as well as protect it

Why the front clip takes more punishment out of exit 338

On August 1, 2025 North Dakota raised the limit on rural I-94 and I-29 to 80 mph. At the same time NDDOT pushed the Fargo 55 zone further west from Sheyenne Street. Mapleton sits well outside that zone, so a driver coming down the ramp at exit 338 reaches full interstate speed inside half a mile and holds it until West Fargo. Impact energy scales with the square of velocity. The same loose stone that pings a bumper at 45 arrives with roughly three times the energy at 80, which is the difference between a mark you buff and a crater through to primer.

The corridor supplies plenty of stones. Heavy truck traffic runs it constantly, and a semi's tires lift grit off the shoulder and hand it to whatever is following. Then there is the diversion. The 30-mile channel includes four interstate bridges, and the crossing west of the metro has meant paved bypass lanes on I-94 and girders set over shifted traffic, with the Reach 7 excavation between West Fargo and Mapleton working off County Road 10.

Paint protection film is clear urethane sitting over the factory finish on the panels that take those hits. Leading edge of the hood, bumper, mirror caps, headlights, the fender strip behind each front tire. A full front covers the hood edge to edge so there is no line across it. Partial front covers the impact zone for less.
