Is paint protection film worth it in North Dakota?
Most of the time, yes. Rock chips are the single most common paint complaint we hear from Fargo drivers, and they cluster in predictable places: the interstate run out to West Fargo, and county gravel in spring before the sweepers get to it. Film is clear urethane, a few thousandths of an inch thick. It sits on the factory clear coat and takes the hit so the paint does not. The better lines self-heal light scuffs when they warm up in the sun or under hot water, so the surface does not slowly haze over the way bare clear coat does. Salt is the second reason people do it. A chip that goes down to bare metal is where corrosion starts. What film will not do is stop a fist-sized rock or a shopping cart. Nothing will. Most people start with a partial front: hood leading edge, fenders, mirror caps, bumper. That covers the zones taking almost all the damage without wrapping the whole car. If you keep vehicles a long time or run a lot of highway miles, full front starts to make more sense. Bring it by and we will quote it.
